Health and Safety Training Advice

Are you or your business partner looking into the different elements of health and safety training courses and literature and how they can benefit your company's workforce? You're not alone! Thanks to continuous health and safety legislation alterations there is always the need to track down the latest courses, DVD's, posters and signs; the question is how do we go about getting up to scratch?
If its courses you're after many companies now offer in-house and e-learning training solutions so you've plenty of options. To name but a few benefits of in-house training would be that you receive a personal service and have the ability to ask numerous questions, which may help to understand and cover your topics quicker. However, the joy of e-learning is that you or your employees will be able to tackle the modules at your desired pace and be able to schedule your workload easier; something to remember is that although there isn't a tutor directly to hand, the support systems are getting far more advanced - so don't rule this option out!
There are numerous videos, DVD's and training packs available for both purchase and rental so if you're not yet certain on which would be the best option you don't even need to have the huge initial outlay, instead you could pay a small rental fee and decide which would be most beneficial to purchase later along the line. However, please bear in mind that purchasing your own training equipment would be more cost effective if you have on-going recruitment as it would always be to hand for a one off fee.
Aside from the physical health and safety training options available it is essential to have the correct health and safety information dotted around the workplace using either signs or posters for all employees to see. If you are trying to maintain a relaxed and friendly atmosphere rather than appearing as being an up-tight, rather restricted workplace you may wish to opt for some comical, less serious posters as these will most likely gain a better response and put forward the message as employees would be far more likely to take a moment to stop and look. It's a known fact that we all put more effort into something we enjoy doing; so try not to make health and safety a boring and mundane topic to read up on.
Other than the copious amounts of literature, another aspect of Health and Safety is first aid. As it is required that at least one member of staff is a qualified first aider, don't forget to stock up on your supply as you don't want to get caught out in the event of an accident.
To ensure that you are up to date with your training and have all of the correct signage you can order your own assessment forms from various online retailers; these are a fantastic way to check that you are doing everything 'by the book' before an assessor tells you otherwise.
